We already know that the Dallas-Fort Worth metro is a great place to live. According to a recent study, it’s also a great place to relocate to for certain occupations. Depending on your career path, you can also take a shorter route to homeownership, too. Relocate to DFW for certain occupations and save more each month for a down payment. Riverside Homebuilders can make it happen even faster with 100% financing in many of our communities.
The research conducted by PropertyShark took a close look at major metros around the country. They determined the median income for a wide range of occupations and then subtracted the cost of living, including media rent. The remainder reflects the potential for monthly savings to put toward a down payment on a home.
In Dallas, the monthly living costs were calculated to be $4,297, including rent. Here’s what PropertyShark determined for the occupations in Dallas that allowed for the most savings that could contribute to buying a home sooner:
The Fort Worth area presents some of the same opportunities, as well as a few different ones. Here, the monthly cost of living is calculated at $4,279
Let’s say you were looking at buying a new home for $270,000. A 20% down payment would be $54,000. Someone in computer, engineering, science or management careers in the Dallas area could save up that down payment in less than 3 years; in Fort Worth, based on the median income, a computer, engineering, or science professional could reach that mark in a little more than 2 years.
Zero down payment to low down payment options
But you don’t have to wait for years. Use a low or no down payment mortgage program to move even more quickly. Riverside Homebuilders has communities of new construction, single-family homes throughout the DFW metro area that qualify for the USDA home loan, allowing for zero down payment for qualified buyers. Even with an FHA home loan—which requires only 3.5% to 10%—you can still buy that home much sooner than later!
