Design Trends to Watch in 2025 with Riverside Homebuilders
At Riverside Homebuilders, we believe that our new homes in DFW should be a reflection of your personal style and a sanctuary that evolves with the times. As we approach 2025, the world of home design is embracing exciting new trends that balance timeless elegance with modern innovation. Our new homes in Dallas-Fort Worth are crafted to not only meet—but exceed these ever-changing expectations, ensuring they remain functional, stylish and sustainable for years to come.
To provide a glimpse into what’s ahead, we spoke with Marissa Beisner, our Design Gallery Consultant, who shared her expert insights into the design elements, finishes and features that will define the year. From warm, welcoming interiors to energy-efficient innovations and charming outdoor trends, 2025 is all about creating spaces that feel connected, purposeful and full of life.
A shift in architectural styles
Exterior design is evolving in 2025, moving away from the stark modern aesthetic toward transitional styles that offer a balance of comfort and sophistication. According to Marissa, “I expect to see more earth tones and bold colors becoming more popular for exterior design. Instead of the modern look, I believe we are going into a more transitional style.”
This shift signals a desire for homes that feel welcoming and natural, with earthy hues complementing bold accents to create striking yet approachable curb appeal.
Moody interiors and warm wood tones
In interior design, 2025 marks the end of the era of all-white and grey spaces. Homeowners are gravitating toward richer, moodier paint colors paired with warm wood tones to create inviting, cozy environments.
“Moody paint colors and warm wood tones are making a comeback,” Marissa shares. These elements bring depth and character to interiors, offering a refreshing alternative to the minimalist trends of recent years. Whether through statement walls or natural wood accents, this trend is all about adding warmth and personality to your space.
The future of open-concept living
While open-concept living has been a cornerstone of modern home design for years, Riverside Homebuilders is always tuned into the subtle shifts in homeowner preferences—and Marissa has observed a potential evolution on the horizon. “I have seen a shift in people wanting more defined spaces,” she shares. “I am not sure if 2025 will be the year, but it may be something that changes in the future.”
Our thoughtfully designed floor plans already offer the best of both worlds. Many of our homes feature the open-concept layouts buyers love—seamlessly blending kitchens, dining areas and living rooms for easy entertaining and a spacious feel. At the same time, we incorporate options for more defined spaces—such as private offices, cozy flex rooms and dedicated play areas—to ensure our homes meet the diverse needs of today’s families.
Sustainability in every detail
Sustainability continues to be a cornerstone of home design, and Riverside Homebuilders is committed to incorporating energy-efficient features into our builds. “Energy efficiency is one of the most important elements of creating a sustainable home,” says Marissa.
From high-performance spray foam insulation and HVAC systems to smart devices like thermostats and lighting, these innovations help reduce energy consumption and create homes that are as cost-effective as they are comfortable. “A well-insulated, air-tight home with proper air sealing can significantly reduce heat loss and gain, providing a more comfortable and cost-effective home year-round,” Marissa explains.
Outdoor spaces and biophilic design
In 2025, outdoor living spaces are becoming an extension of the home, with a focus on blending nature and wellness. “People are wanting to bring nature closer, so going with a biophilic design or creating a wellness retreat will be a big trend for 2025,” Marissa shares. Cottagecore, with its charm and connection to nature, is also rising in popularity.
Unexpected trends to watch
One surprising design element making a comeback in 2025? Checkered tile. “I’ve seen checkered tile coming back into trend, and I think that would be an exciting design element to incorporate,” says Marissa. Whether used in kitchens, bathrooms or as a statement floor, this retro-inspired feature is a fun way to add visual interest and nostalgia to modern homes.
Bringing it all together
As we look ahead to the exciting year of 2025, Riverside Homebuilders is thrilled to continue delivering homes that reflect the latest trends while prioritizing quality, comfort and functionality. From transitional exteriors to moody interiors, energy-efficient designs and touches of nature, our homes are built to suit every lifestyle and aesthetic.
