Shared Values: Building for a Small-Business Owner

November 1, 2021

Riverside Homebuilders might have dozens of communities throughout the Dallas-Fort Worth metro, but our roots as a family-owned small business are still apparent today. Those roots are what make it so special when we get the opportunity to build a new-construction home for a local business owner.

Aaron Chezem is a co-owner and technician at Xtra Mile Automotive in Denton, Texas. XtraMile Automotive was founded about two years ago with the goal to break the stereotype associated with automotive shops, providing clients with expert experience, affordable service and honorable family values. The shop offers general and preventative maintenance, big repairs, inspections—just about anything you could need—at an honest, reasonable price.

The commitment to quality and integrity offered at Xtra Mile is non-negotiable—something the shop and Riverside Homebuilders have had in common since their founding. A friend of Aaron’s worked with us to build a home in Sanger, so he had heard about our company and recognized the quality of work we did. So when he saw the Riverside Homebuilders name on a community that was on his route to work everyday, he took notice.

“It rang a bell when I passed it on my commute,” Aaron said. “My friend loved his house, so I knew Riverside was a company I could trust.”

The community he kept passing along U.S Route 380 was Midway Ridge in Ponder, Texas. Midway Ridge is a beautiful community with oversized one-acre homesites, offering a peaceful rural setting in the perfectly convenient location—and the location really sold it for Aaron.

“My commute is around 11 minutes now, which is really great,” Aaron said.

Aaron and his wife, Nikki, had worked with other builders in the past. But this time around, they were ready to create a home that their whole family could truly enjoy living in. They selected the Wichita floor plan, which provided the perfect amount of space for them and their two young children. This 3,140 square-foot layout has four bedrooms, three-and-a-half bathrooms, a three-car garage and plenty of bonus spaces for the Chezem family to use as they see fit.

“I had a good feeling about Riverside after my first conversation with them,” Aaron said. “I love supporting other community businesses, and I really liked what I heard from their employees.”

Once construction was underway, Aaron appreciated the open line of communication. He liked being able to talk to the builder on his particular site, since a lot of bigger builders don’t offer that same one-on-one interaction during the process.

“Material shortages were a bit of a strain due to COVID, but the team went out of their way to fix any problems we ran into,” Aaron said.

The team at Riverside Homebuilders has always worked to better the areas we build in and create lasting relationships with the homeowners who basically become family. There’s something special about working with another business owner, especially ones like Aaron who hold similar goals and values as ours.

For a reliable, affordable shop in North Texas, trust your car’s care with Aaron and the team at Xtra Mile Automotive.
